Browse> Home/ Motivation/ A New Me The Natural Way SHARING LIFE STORIES Is there maybe a story or two from your how you overcame challenging situations, or what you learned, or how God encouraged you and gave you strength to get through whatever "it" might be?I am convinced that the life challenges we go through will not only make us stronger if we let them, but we are to share those stories with others, walk next to them and encourage them to continue to the other side of what ever "it" is. The "other side" is where we look back and see what came from the experience... a stronger faith in God... character, peace and courage. So, we would love to have any of those life journey stories, whether big or little events to share with others! Okay, so, let's share... The Making of a new me the natural way December 2009 By: Deedra Taylor This is my story. In 1991 I was pregnant with my second child. During the pregnancy I was having a lot of complications and ended up gaining a lot of weight. After the delivery of my son who was premature by 57 days and I was really sick and by the end of 1994 I had to have a hysterectomy and ended up gaining even more weight. In total I gained a whopping 140 pounds. I ballooned up to 310 pounds at my heaviest, and at 5’5" that is large. It was hard to breath and exhausting to chase around two boys. So this was the beginning of a new journey for me to lose weight the natural way. I started to eat better and started doing more to exercise. I worked at the hospital at the time so I would make a point to walk up and down the stairs to the second floor at least 4 times a day. I also sat down with a nutritionist and made out a meal plan that would work for my life style and my children. Two years later and a lot of work I was down to 160 pounds. It was a struggle every day, but with a lot of will power I made it work for me.
