Greetings All,
MORE ON THE HEART

Well, last month we talked about the heart, taking down the walls we build and letting God be our protection.

Glad to be done with that I thought!! But no, that was just the beginning of Dad working on the heart. God has such a sense of humor, doesn't he? I mean sometimes I think He just shakes His head at chuckles at us when we think we have it all figured out and we are way off base!

More often than not when God tries to teach us something, first He will tell us... then we get to practice it!

So I thought I would share with you the journey we have been on since last month!

I ended last month with these words,

"As long as I leave my heart in His hands, He will gently hold it, nurture it, stretch and grow it so I can hold more and more of what He has to fill it with! As we stretch the body, our loving Dad stretches the heart."

Well, you guessed it... Dad started stretching my heart so He could fill it, but before He could fill it with more of him, He first had to empty it of those things that were keeping me bound and locked up, those things that needed to be removed, that were cluttering up my heart.

Remember we talked about opening up the heart area, stretching our chest wide open, pulling our shoulders back and taking a deep breath?

Silly me, I didn't realize something!! We are made up of not only body, but soul and spirit as well. When something changes in one part of us, like opening up our chest or heart area in the body... hello... our spirit and soul open up too!

My Dad started digging around in old emotions that needed to come out... ouch... and I actually felt some physical pain in letting go of some grieving and sadness that was still inside.

God showed me areas in my attitude, yes I will admit it, pride, some fear, offendedness and unforgiveness that needed to go. Old ways of thinking that were ugly... selfish, me first patterns.

God brings to the surface those things that we need to let go of at that time. He won't dig deeper than we can handle. It's kind of like peeling an onion, one layer at a time. Our part is to surrender, yes all of it, so He can indeed stretch and grow and fill us to overflowing with Himself.

As He gently showed me that these needed to come out, I willingly, well, kind of willingly, handed over to him all that He showed me and I felt such a relief and cleansing, and light heartedness. But you know the best part???

When we let God empty us of our selves He doesn't just leave us there... He comes and fills us up with himself in those places and then yes, we feel so alive... fully alive!!!

And what comes next is His amazing peace.

Yep, that's what God says guards our hearts... his amazing peace.

"Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel." Phil. 4:7 Contemporary English Version

God is the one that wants to have our hearts, have you given Him yours?
You can trust Him with yours!
